![]() Now you can program that button using the Flirc GUI Repeat this for as many commands as you need to add then remember to sync the settings: If successful, when you hover over the button it will show the command you dragged onto it: Then drag and drop this new command onto the button you want (in this example "Favourite 1"): The new command will now show up on the side bar (highlighted below): If successful you should see a message similar to this: For my button I used an old blu-ray player remote I had: The software will guide you through the steps of adding the new button. Then we want to "Add a missing command", in the case i'm adding a button to open an app called "Kodi" (hence the name of the new command): I'm choosing "Favourite 1" button to program in this example, as you can see it has nothing assigned to the button:Ĭlick "Teach command" in the bottom right corner of the window: If we want to add a custom command then we'll have to add a signal. If the remote button has nothing assigned to the button, when it is pressed it won't emit a signal (so Flirc has nothing to respond to). Below is an example of hovering over the keys: If the button is not assigned then the software will say " Nothing (Not assigned)". To determine what buttons have functions paired with them hover over the button with your cursor. You then be presented with a virtual picture of your remote control (in this example I have a harmony 300): Select the "Buttons" tab then click the drop down menu and select "Flirc Media Player" Open the "myharmony" app (available here: ) This article describes how to add customs buttons to your harmony remote which you can then map to a custom keyboard combination on flirc (e.g. And was not at all happy with the experience/performance, even for "lesser" screens. For information setting up your harmony device to work with flirc see this article ![]() I tried to live/be happy with a Nexus Player for this sort of thing, as I transitioned further and further away from WMC and toward Android/HDHomeRun. It's probably overkill for a couple of the "lesser" TV sets in the house, but it just works so well, and at this point I've already invested soooo much time/money into this hobby/obsession at this point, I just don't see the point to trying to pinch $50 or so on the front-end client side and then live with the deficiencies, when perfection doesn't cost THAT much more (particularly when viewed as a percentage of total investment so far, between Desktop PC, NAS, router, modem, switches, cables, TV sets, monthly subscriptions, etc etc etc). For the basement kitchen counter the smaller form factor of the new 2017 model is appealing to me. ![]() I fully intend to hang a 5th one on the "TV fridge" next to the beer fridge in my cave, but I've got lots of time between now and next football season, and am just waiting to catch some sort of sale price. Paid "full price", $199, for my fourth one, but it did come with the remote included, which is still a "deal", IMO. ![]() I struck gold on my third one, paid $150 AND got the remote for free. I bought my second one for $175 (no remote). I loved it so much I knew this was ultimately going to be my client-of-choice to hang on ALL my TVs that would bring the most out of my server-client setup, but I wasn't in a hurry to replace all my old gear, and just waited until I got sale prices before I made the upgrade. Only 2/4 came with controller and gamepad.īut I only paid "full price" ($299 for "pro" model, no included remote) once.
